EATON INTRODUCES NEW MOTOR FOR TURF CARE MARKET

EDEN PRAIRIE, MINNESOTA - Eaton Hydraulics designed the "W" Series Motor in response to the special needs of the turf care market. It features a new Geroler® design that delivers high volumetric and mechanical efficiencies in a compact package. The high efficiencies reduce cooling requirements, improve hill climbing ability and make more horsepower available for blade and reel drive functions.

The compact envelope of the W Series Motor also make it ideal for turf equipment. The envelope measures a maximum of 5.4 inches from the end cap to where the flange and front pilot join. Front and rear pilots measure 3.25 inches and 5 inches in diameter respectively. Yet, the W Series Motor provides 510 Nm (4500 lb-in) of intermittent torque and up to 694 RPM. The envelope and high torque package offer manufacturers greater design flexibility.

Featuring an industry-standard mount, the W Series Motor is suitable for both new and existing applications. The rugged housing features a four-bolt mounting flange with a 5.81 inch bolt circle. The tapered shaft diameter is 1.25 inches. A heavy-duty bearing increases the side load capacity to make the W Series Motor even more flexible.

Flange-mounted port locations have been designed to ease assembly installation as well as facilitate and protect the attachment of hydraulic lines. Porting options are available and include popular sizes such as 7/8 O-ring and G 1/2 (BSP).

The W Series Motor includes other features that lend themselves to the turf market including a heavy-duty bearing and increased side load capacity. While providing mechanical efficiencies, the Geroler® also provides durability, plus smooth and quiet operation at low speeds. Also, an internally-protected shaft seal minimizes the risk of external fluid leakage which could damage turf.

Available options for the W Series Motor include internal check valve, shuttle valve, high speed valve, seal guard and case drain. The seal guard helps prevent debris from wrapping around the shaft and damaging the shaft seal. The case drain allows for enhanced cooling and circuit flushing needs. The W Series Motor design provides additional convenience by offering an optional brake package tailored to the unit. An integral brake is under development and will eliminate the need for secondary assembly operations.
