EATON'S HYDRAULICS DIVISION INTRODUCES RIGHT ANGLE HYDROSTATIC TRANSMISSION

EDEN PRAIRIE, MINNESOTA - Eaton recently introduced a new, compact transaxle that increases customer production line efficiency by offering an alternative to separate components. The Model 778 houses a pump, motor and axle in one compact envelope. The assembly time required to install up to three separate components and related plumbing is eliminated. A clutch and synchronizer components are also unnecessary. An optional integral fluid reservoir is also available, eliminating the need for a remote reservoir and extra plumbing.

The unit is also easy to install. It is filled with fluid at the factory so no preparation is needed. Several mounting points are provided to accommodate the axle, torsion load and linkage mechanisms.

The transaxle is ideal for lawn and garden applications including zero-turn-radius and intermediate walk-behind mowers. The unit features a vertical input shaft to accommodate today's popular vertical shaft engines. Heavy duty shafts with ball bearings are standard and allow a high axle load. An internal filter, which comes standard, provides additional protection against demanding conditions.

Eaton's new transaxle also features many operator conveniences that can enhance productivity on the job site. It is easy and smooth to operate: a single control provides forward, reverse and speed. No shifting is necessary. The transaxle also features a wide band neutral and neutral detent to make vehicle control easier. Lurch and creep are eliminated. In addition to hydrostatic dynamic braking, the transaxle features an integral, environmentally protected wet brake. It can be used for emergency stops or for parking. An integral valve on the transaxle can be engaged to port fluid, allowing the vehicle to be pushed.

An optional fan/pulley is available for added convenience. A shorter length transaxle is also available.

Eaton's Hydraulics Division manufactures and markets worldwide a complete line of hydraulic components for mobile and industrial products. Its products include Char-Lynn® low-speed, high-torque motors and hydrostatic power steering, Eaton light, medium and heavy duty hydrostatic transmissions, piston pumps and motors, radial ball piston pumps, hydrostatic transaxles, gear pumps and motors, valves and cylinders.
